Dreams are really weird things. I mean, you shut your eyes and fall into unconsciousness only to hallucinate for hours on end. Only, it doesn’t feel like hours, and these hallucinations usually don’t make much sense at all.
Despite not making much sense, dreams are actually really powerful and significant things. They can give us a lot more insight than we might think as to how we’re feeling about certain situations in our lives and generally our stat3e of mind. The cool thing about this is the fact that dreams aren’t trying to deceive you. So they may not make a lot of sense and you might feel like you’re being tricked, but dreams aren’t inherently malicious – they aren’t trying to sell you a truth that’s not really reality.

Instead of being focused around physical sensations, emotional dreams are revolved around how you’re personally and psychologically feeling. Most of the time, these dreams will be revolved around an identifiable emotion that you’re experiencing, even if you don’t realise it. The setting and the content of the dream works to bring your attention to how you really feel about a certain situation. Say you dream that you had a screaming match with your parents – this could illuminate being angry over a change in your personal life.
If you’re ever had a lucid dream, you know just how trippy they can be. Lucid dreaming is the state of knowing you’re dreaming and then being able to control that dream. Lucid dreamers can actually take control of their dreams and guide it so that they’re able to achieve almost anything they want. These dreams tend to be very, very vivid and memorable, and you can actually teach yourself how to lucid dream by partaking in reality check exercises.
These dreams are probably the weirdest type of dream that you can have. They’re focused around connecting you to a higher, more enlightened state of mind, body, and soul. The purpose of these dreams is to bring you closer to your deeper state of knowledge, even though they’re often seen to be revolved around another ethereal being. If you’ve ever had a dream that seems it has a certain spiritual quality to it, then it’s likely you’ve experienced a soul dream.
More often than not, dreams contain archetypal symbols that can work to embody human experiences and represent universal meanings. Archetypes can be anything ranging from a particular type of person – like a damsel in distress or a villain – to a simple symbol – like a pot boiling over. They can be either positive or negative, and they tend to represent a deeper meaning than they may seem.
